Ramblings

Skin (noun) is just a tissue to cover our organs – but this tissue determines so much more – Our race, our color, our age!

Women from a very young age, learn to dress up and look pretty. I can see it happening more today when I walk by Target or Babies’ R Us – I see a million outfits for baby girls – and on the other side a pitiful handful for our handsome boys! Girls seem to have a million colored outfits – shades of pink, red, violet, purple, black, and even blue. What do boys have – blue, dark blue, light blue, maybe one green and a brown, if you look hard enough!! Pitiful I tell you!

This starts our age-old affair with ‘looking pretty’! Not that there is anything wrong with looking ‘pretty’ but I think it should be for yourself. Not for anyone else. And age, build, color, and even sex should not matter.

As a new mommy, I realize that things have changed. What I see in the mirror is the ‘new’ look. One with scars of pregnancy and childbirth. But what I see in my son, are my genes, my skin in a whole other person. [Yes, half might be my honey’s, but who’s counting!]

I hope by the time my son grows up; we have a little more sanity as far as “being beautiful” is concerned.

On another note, I just saw this quote, and thought was really funny!

The best way to keep children home is to make the home atmosphere pleasant--and let the air out of the tires. -- Dorothy Parker (1893 - 1967)

Reading back I realize that I have been rambling … blame it on a slow day at work or maybe my muse is in Hawaii enjoying the beach! (Yes, that is a hint to my honey – if he ever gets round to reading my blog )

Let me stop, before I go any further. Ciao!
