The new school
Kochu went to the BIG school today!!!!
His time at the local Montessori daycare/school ended a month or so ago. He did not realize the significance of it on that day. Though his teachers gave him a hug and we talked about coming back to visit etc he just gave the widest smile and said the usual byes not realizing that it was an end of chapter. I was a sad - we were saying goodbye to the school that helped him with potty trainings and taught him to read his first words. His teachers have had a positive influence on him. Of course in a couple of years he would forget them but for posterity sake ....
Ms. Lupe was a teacher, who always had a grandma like attitude to things - smiling, all forgiving, handing out gifts for the smallest of small things to big events like birthdays and everything in between. She made sure the kids played well was and truly was a great first teacher for the little ones. She helped ease the pain of parting for us and especially potty training.
Ms. S was his next teacher who helped him acquire reading and math skills - addition and subtraction, writing down his name, and reading skills. She helped with his social skills as he learned to speak English at school & nurtured him in to a social kid, helping him make many good friends - Elijah, Nathaniel, Derek, Anya along the way.
After a month off, Kochu started his Pre-K at the big school today. Kochu is still a baby to us and in this school alongside the 8th Grade kids he seems totally out of place, and yet we are all exited about going to the new school.
We prepared him as much as possible as we shopped for lunch bags and clothes. I even took him to meet his new teacher Ms. V at orientation. When I told him his new class will have 23 other kids whom by next year would be his friends that he could invite for his birthday party he was thrilled. Today morning, Kochu was ready, he did not cry or show any concerns as I helped him get ready in the morning.

I am yet to discover the trick..as if now..I have already become one ammumma with lots of grey hairs.....
one more problem is: How to make him do potty at home before sending him to big school!!!!!
` AM - LOL!! I agree women age the most right after they have babies .... Have you tried give him a glass of milk - might help with potty.
He doesn't drink Milk..That is the problem. And he simply wastes almost 10-20 minutes sitting for potty and end up doing nothing!!!!
congrats to the big Boy..Ni will also join the new school next year. She is already excited about it. She too wakes up late..very late !! I guess I will have to follow your tips..by the time..:-)
All the best..
~ AM - If its not working, I would say skip it and try to figure out when he likes to go potty - maybe its evening or after dinner.
~ LR - Kids do grow up so quickly! Good luck!
